Oregon Snow Skiing

Snowshoeing, shredding, skiing, sledding and sleigh rides—if it is done in the snow, the Central Oregon is the place to go! Central Oregon’s maritime climate makes it the perfect winter sports destination. The extreme amounts of snow, mild temperatures and dry snow give the region bragging rights to having the longest ski season in North America. It is home to Timberline’s Palmer snowfield which is America’s only year round ski area.

Mt. Hood Meadows (800-SKI-HOOD) - From children ages 4 and up you can all have a blast as you race down these exciting “paths”. There are miles of groomed trails, 11 lifts, a restaurant, rental shop, retail stores and a children’s learning center.

Mt. Hood Ski Bowl (800-SKI-BOWL)-From snowmobiling to tubing, sleigh rides to black diamond slopes, ziplines to snowboarding, this is the place. With over 300 acres to explore and experience, this is one of Oregon’s most extreme wintertime locations.

Mt. Bachelor (866-734-6019)-With 70 runs, 4 terrain parks, a superpipe, 56 kilometers of Nordic trails and an impressive 370 inches of snow per year, the over 3,600 acre Mt. Bachelor Village has everything you need for a winter vacation. You can enjoy slopes and terrains just right for everyone-regardless of your ski level or experience.

Timberline (1-800-547-1406)-Since 1937, Timberline has been Oregon’s premier ski area. You can book a room/suite, enjoy a meal at the Lodge’s restaurant, take some private ski lessons and so much more. The Timberline has something for every season—from music concerts to wildflower walks during the summer and fall to winter wine sampling diners and springtime brunches and snow sport’s contest. Of course, snow activities are available whenever you visit. Timberline has a vertical drop of more than 3,500 feet, alpine trails, free style skiing and many other sports venues.

Mt. Ashland (541-482-2897) Perhaps one of Oregon’s most challenging ski areas, as the locals say, “If you can ski Mt. Ashland, you can ski anywhere.” It is the highest (7,500 feet) point in the Siskiyou Mountain range and has 280 inches of snow annually. You will find 23 trails, 4 chair lifts, chute skiing, and snowboarding.

Other Oregon ski areas include
1. Ski Anthony Lakes (541-856-3277)
2. Cat Ski Mt. Bailey (800-733-7593)
3. Willamette Pass (541-345-SNOW)
4. Warner Canyon (541-947-5001)
5. Spout Springs Ski Area (541-566-0320)
6. Mt. Hoodoo (541-822-3799)
