Salem, Oregon Visitors Guide

As Oregon’s capital and third largest city, Salem has a variety of activities. It is host to the Oregon State Fair, the Salem Art Fair &Festival and the West Salem Waterfront Parade. You can choose to stay in a nationally known hotel, or book your room at country bed and breakfast inns like the Sunnyside Vineyard, the Bookmark B & B, or the Independence House Bed and Breakfast. There are unique stores, like the Gibson Girl or the Stone Buddha and fine dining such as Alessandro’s or Kwan Original Cuisine.

Bush House & Bush Barn Art Center - A Victorian mansion and remodeled barn where you can see galleries, exhibits and monthly shows

Historic Deepwood Estate - This 1894 home and carriage house, designed by W. C. Knighton, has stained glass windows, beautiful woodwork, a solarium, a teahouse and a gazebo.

Mission Mill Museum - When you visit here, you will see how fleece becomes fabric. The museum has several buildings from the 1800’s and helps paint a picture of life from bygone days.

 

Other notable Salem, Oregon tourist spots include the Honeywood Winery which is the state’s oldest producing winery, the Greek-styled State Capital Building, the Capital Mall and Willamette University.
